Carles Folguera, one of the most renowned pedagogues in sport, was this week at the heart of Alcantara Team, in the Raval of Barcelona, leading a training talk with the children of the football teams of the Unió Esportiva Ciutat Vella. Carles, who has been the director of La Masía for more than 20 years, knew and saw first-hand the entire learning process of Thiago and Rafinha when they arrived at La Masía as just children.
The talk focused on the importance of the values and education that are obtained through training and the day-to-day of the athlete, of physical activity and the objectives of each training under the tutelage of their coaches. “In sports, in football in this case, it’s about evolving and learning, starting as a group to end up being a team. That means gaining confidence, ambition, friendship, respect, camaraderie and commitment based on working every day, paying attention to the coaches and, individually, always giving the best of oneself according to the interests of the team ” .
The experience was enormously positive and motivating, also for the coaches and even for the friends of the participants in the Alcantara Team program who were invited to share the enormous knowledge of Carles Folguera in the field of educational training associated with sport.
